Student ID Badge Policy
Safety Starts with a Badge.
The Universal Student ID Badge Initiative began 2025-2026, Dallas ISD implemented expanded student identification badge requirements across the district to go into effect beginning 2026-2027.
- All students in grades Pre-K through 12 will be expected to wear their student ID badge while on campus.
- Students who ride the bus will be required to scan their ID badge when getting on and off the bus.
We are sharing this information in advance to give families ample time to prepare for the upcoming school year.
Every Dallas ISD student, from Pre-K through 12th grade, is expected to wear a student ID badge while at school. Student IDs play an important role in supporting campus safety, streamlining daily operations, and helping staff quickly identify students throughout the school day.
More Than Just an ID!
Your student's ID badge is an important part of their school day.
It helps keep campuses safe, supports daily routines, and provides access to key services.
On campus, ID badges help staff quickly identify students and ensure everyone in the building belongs there. They are also used for activities such as cafeteria purchases, library checkouts, and participation in school programs.
For students who ride the bus, the ID badge serves as their bus pass. Students will scan their badge when boarding and exiting district buses, including field trips. This process helps ensure students are riding the correct bus and allows the district to maintain accurate ridership information throughout the day.
